Trusting in the Lord

Where do you place your trust?

I love comfort. There’s nothing more satisfying to me than having a comfortable routine that works for me and knowing what to expect and when. However, when planning a vacation I’m completely the opposite. I like to be spontaneous (to a degree). Some people are the reverse, on a vacation they plan all the details but in life they go with the flow and avoid routine.

As a believer we are called to put our trust in the Lord with everything we do on any given day. Proverbs 3:5-6 says: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight.”

But what does this mean? Simply put, it means trusting in God completely in your day to day life so that he can sustain you especially when your own understanding is limited. We will always have questions, doubts and worries when our lives are disrupted, when we experience discomfort or even when things are going really well.

Today, choose to place your trust not in your routines, comforts, people or possessions, but instead submit everything before the Lord and ask him to direct you in all that you do. We put our daily trust in simple things like the lane dividers on highways or locking the doors of our homes. How much better would it be to put our trust in God daily?

Application Questions:
1) In what areas of your life do you find it challenging to trust in God, and why?
2) Are there practical steps or habits you've developed to consciously acknowledge and submit everything before the Lord in your daily life?
